I send to you this timely wish
From within my heart to yours

Filled with open doors

Doors of love
Doors of joy
Doors of abundance new

Doors of fulfilled dreams
That is my wish for you

To open them

This was a poem I sent out to my friends, family and those whom I had met throughout the year on various courses, seminars and meetings I had attended. It exemplified my feelings as I took the next step on the journey to find my vehicle for financial abundance.

I remember the first mentoring session with Graeme I turned up like everyone else all wide-eyed and keen to let this man, who would eventually become a friend as well as a mentor, lead us down the path to freedom. Little did we know he was expecting us to do most of it ourselves. I guess we thought he would hand us a magic formula and we would just know what to do and how to do and then become extremely wealthy.

Our first session was more about what we wanted rather than how to do it. This confused a few of us, where was the magic formula for success? Graeme would say find the why and the how would take care of itself, and I thought but I know why - "I want to be rich!" But why do you want to be rich? That was the question he wanted us to ask ourselves. I knew why I wanted to be able to live the life I wanted I didn't want to have a job, I didn't want someone else telling me what to do all day and I want to be able to help the ones I loved.

So Graeme told us that before we left that weekend we would set our goals for the next 120 days and read them out loud to the whole group, there were about 15 of us and report once a week via email to everyon e in the group.

One of my main goals in that first 120 days was to buy a better house for my mum and dad to live in. This was to be the start of my million dollar property portfolio but things didn't quite go the way I wanted......

Kia ora,

I decided to start a blog to detail my progress in the exciting world of property investment for no other reason than I have always wanted to write about something - but mostly have been a little lazy - and so I needed a starting point and chose property as it is something I have tried and had a little success in and am now determined to make it work for me.

I first ventured down this path after reading a book by Graeme Fowler called "NZ Real Estate Investors' Secrets - How 10 New Zealanders Became Millionaires from Residential Property & how YOU can too!" At the end of the book Graeme was offering a year long mentoring course which I promptly enquired about and was accepted into. This was in March 2004 since then I have been on a rollercoaster ride of courses and seminars and have read just about every book I could get my hands on.

On starting the mentoring program with Graeme I had 2 properties one in Wanganui which was rented by my mum and dad and one in Hastings which I lived in with my kids. So this was my starting point I was looking for my path to financial freedom and loved the idea of being totally in control of my life and having the ability to help the ones I love. The next few years although exciting didn't quite work out the way I had planned.
